Join the National Safety Stand-Down

ContractorHelpers would like to encourage construction pros to take part in the National Safety Stand-Down, which kicks off today. This nationwide effort encourages employers to speak with employees about safety in an effort to prevent falls in construction.

As you probably already know, fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction workers, accounting for 337 of the 874 construction fatalities recorded in 2014 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. During that same year, fall prevention safety standards were among the top 10 most frequently cited OSHA standards.

No matter how strong your company’s efforts are to prevent falls from height and to keep workers safe—this is an issue that simply cannot be discussed too often.

So how can you participate in the National Safety Stand-Down?

  • Take a break to have a “toolbox talk.”
  • Conduct safety equipment inspections.
  • Develop rescue plans.
  • Discussing job-specific hazards.
